Level 1
Range: 26 - 30 pts
Replicate a known experiment to confirm findings or collate data without further analysis.
Level 2
Range: 31 - 35 pts
Extend a known experiment with modest improvements to procedures or data gathering.
Level 3
Range: 36 - 41 pts
Devise an original experiment; control variables; analyze data using arithmetic or graphs.
Level 4
Range: 42 - 50 pts
Original research; thorough variable control & data analysis; real-world significance shown.

Part B: Creativity and Originality Mark: / 20
Level 1
Range: 9 - 11 pts
Simple design with little student input. A textbook/internet type project.
Level 2
Range: 12 - 14 pts
Some creativity in a project of fair to good design. Topic is a common one.
Level 3
Range: 14 - 16 pts
Imaginative project, well thought out. Some creativity in design or materials.
Level 4
Range: 17 - 20 pts
Highly original approach, showing resourcefulness & creativity in design/analysis.

Level 1
Range: 15 - 17 pts
Most elements simple/incomplete. In pair projects, one member dominated.

Level 3
Range: 21 - 24 pts
All 4 elements complete and well executed. Equitable contribution in pairs.
Level 4
Range: 25 - 30 pts
Exceeds grade expectations. Bibliography goes beyond websites. Enthusiastic pitch.
